1 - Who we are

This website (https://www.musaoduola.com) is owned and operated by Musa Olanrewaju Oduola, who serves as the data controller for all personal information processed through this site. For privacy enquiries, please contact research@musaoduola.com.

2 - Users' rights

For each processing activity described below, every user ("data subject") enjoys the following rights:

  • Access and transparency – request confirmation of whether we process their personal data and, if so, obtain access to that data, details of the processing, and a copy (Art. 15 GDPR).

  • Rectification – have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected or completed (Art. 16 GDPR).

  • In addition, if we have disclosed your personal data to third parties, we are required to notify each of them whenever we correct, delete, or restrict that data under Articles 16, 17(1), or 18 GDPR—unless notifying them is impossible or would involve disproportionate effort. You may always request information of those recipients.

  • Similarly, Under Article 21 GDPR, you may object at any time to our future processing of your personal data when that processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. This right expressly includes the ability to refuse the use of your data for direct‑marketing purposes.

3 - What data we collect/Data processing information

We collect information in two ways:

A. Information you provide directly

When you contact us, whether through the online form or by email, you decide which details to share. Typical information includes your name, email address, organisation and, if you wish, a phone number. The substance of your message (questions, attachments, preferred workshop topics, CV requests or other voluntary extras) is also personal data. We use these details only to understand your enquiry, respond accurately and tailor any materials we send.

B. Information we collect automatically

Every visit to the site generates a small trail of technical data. Your browser passes along your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view and the website that referred you. We also set essential and analytics cookies, small text files stored on your device, to remember preferences and compile anonymised statistics. Together, these data points let us secure the site, measure performance and keep improving the user experience.

3b1 Server data

For technical reasons, the following data sent by your internet browser to us or to our server provider will be collected, especially to ensure a secure and stable website: These server log files record the type and version of your browser, operating system, the website from which you came (referrer URL), the webpages on our site visited, the date and time of your visit, as well as the IP address from which you visited our site.

The data thus collected will be temporarily stored, but not in association with any other of your data.

The basis for this storage is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the improvement, stability, functionality, and security of our website.

The data will be deleted within no more than seven days, unless continued storage is required for evidentiary purposes. In which case, all or part of the data will be excluded from deletion until the investigation of the relevant incident is finally resolved.

3b2 Cookies

a) Session cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files or other storage technologies stored on your computer by your browser. These cookies process certain specific information about you, such as your browser, location data, or IP address.

This processing makes our website more user-friendly, efficient, and secure, allowing us, for example, to display our website in different languages or to offer a shopping cart function.

The legal basis for such processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b) GDPR, insofar as these cookies are used to collect data to initiate or process contractual relationships.

If the processing does not serve to initiate or process a contract, our legitimate interest lies in improving the functionality of our website. The legal basis is then Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR.

When you close your browser, these session cookies are deleted.

b) Third-party cookies

If necessary, our website may also use cookies from companies with whom we cooperate for the purpose of advertising, analyzing, or improving the features of our website.

Please refer to the following information for details, in particular for the legal basis and purpose of such third-party collection and processing of data collected through cookies.

c) Disabling cookies

You can refuse the use of cookies by changing the settings on your browser. Likewise, you can use the browser to delete cookies that have already been stored. However, the steps and measures required vary, depending on the browser you use. If you have any questions, please use the help function or consult the documentation for your browser or contact its maker for support. Browser settings cannot prevent so-called flash cookies from being set. Instead, you will need to change the setting of your Flash player. The steps and measures required for this also depend on the Flash player you are using. If you have any questions, please use the help function or consult the documentation for your Flash player or contact its maker for support.

If you prevent or restrict the installation of cookies, not all of the functions on our site may be fully usable.

3b3 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors navigate the site. Google sets cookies that collect aggregate statistics such as page views and time on page. No personal identifiers are included. You will be asked to consent to these cookies when you first visit. Declining will not affect core site functions.

The Google Analytics service is used to analyze how our website is used. The legal basis is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, optimization, and economic operation of our site.

Usage and user-related information, such as IP address, place, time, or frequency of your visits to our website will be transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there. However, we use Google Analytics with the so-called anonymization function, whereby Google truncates the IP address within the EU or the EEA before it is transmitted to the US.

The data collected in this way is in turn used by Google to provide us with an evaluation of visits to our website and what visitors do once there. This data can also be used to provide other services related to the use of our website and of the internet in general.

Google states that it will not connect your IP address to other data. In addition, Google provides further information with regard to its data protection practices at

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (for example, health information).

4 - Legal basis

We process personal data under UK GDPR on the basis of legitimate interests (running an academic website and responding to enquiries) and, where you provide contact details, consent.

5 - Data retention and server logs

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

5.1 - Server logs

When you visit the site, our hosting provider (Wix) automatically records so‑called server log files. These include:

  • browser type and version

  • operating system

  • referrer‑URL (the page you came from)

  • pages visited on this site

  • date and time of access

  • anonymised IP address

We store these logs for up to seven days to maintain the security, stability and performance of the website. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log data may be kept longer if needed to investigate a specific security incident, but only until that matter is resolved.

5.2 - Contact‑form records

Messages submitted through the contact form are retained for 12 months after our last correspondence, then securely deleted.

Analytics reports are stored only in aggregated, non‑identifiable form.

6 - Sharing your data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to anyone. We may, however, disclose aggregated, anonymized information, to business partners, trusted affiliates, or advertisers to illustrate site performance and usage trends.

Personal data may be processed by selected third‑party service providers (for example, Wix for hosting. We will share identifiable information with such providers solely for these limited purposes and only when you have given us permission.

7 - Security

We use HTTPS encryption and Wix’s built‑in security features. Access to contact‑form data is password‑protected.

8 - Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
